This short play was the winner of the inaugural Off Cut Festival at The Old Red Lion Theatre. Just fifteen minutes long, it told the story of a seventeen year old single mother and an eighty year old man living next door to each other at the top of a tower block. With paper thin walls and the lifts failing day after day they often find they hear more of each other than they would like. Closer To God won the Best Play Award and the Audience Award. It went on the be one of the highest downloads on the Bush Theatre’s Bush Green website. Original cast was Peter Gordon and Ursula Early, and later Claire Cahill.
