Planning on auditioning for drama school this year? Then this is the workshop to get you thoroughly prepared!
This intensive day will get you geared up for your audition: building your confidence and diminishing your nerves. Led by Anna Jordan, who trained at LAMDA and teaches at Italia Conti, and just a few minutes from London Bridge, this action packed workshop for only 6 actors will consist of:
- In depth work on modern and classical pieces
- Warm up and improvisation games you might come across at an audition
- Work on unaccompanied song
- Interview technique
- Mock drama school audition
- A chance to chat, share advice and spend time with like minded people who are in the same boat
In this safe, supportive and nurturing environment, get constructive feedback and direction on your pieces, and learn from watching others. This workshop will help you find immediacy, stillness and variation in your performance, centre your voice, engage the panel, and make brave dynamic choices with your work. FULL of useful stuff to help you with getting into drama school.
“I’ve been coaching people on auditioning for drama school for over five years. It’s different to standard audition practice, or acting technique. The key is to help actors show their potential; not to polish their pieces or radically re-direct them. This potential then can be moulded and developed over their training. I find a lot of my work is stripping back bad habits that have been picked up over the years. I help actors to ease off the stuff we do to make us feel secure on stage, but which actually obscure our true potential, like standing in a certain way, using a “Shakespeare voice” or moving our hands around all the time. It’s some of the favourite work that I do.”
Anna Jordan – WAP Artistic Director
“A really, really useful day and a friendly, encouraging atmosphere that makes the whole drama school audition process less daunting.”
Charlie Bate – Previous attendee and current Bristol Old Vid student.
